Comdasys AG, a leading provider of network appliances for secure real-time multimedia convergence scenarios and session border controllers, today announced that it has successfully integrated the M5T SRTP SAFE media stream security protocol into its Convergence Series appliances.

The Comdasys Convergence Series are high-performance, real-time communication network appliances designed for enterprises, businesses and SOHO’s of varying sizes. The implementation of the M5T SRTP SAFE component will allow Comdasys Convergence systems to terminate SRTP and thus to provide secure end-to-end integrity, authentication, confidentiality, and streaming of packets over insecure network links without requiring the replacement of existing equipment.

“The Convergence Series have all been designed to provide the highest degree of security while at the same time accommodating the requirements of even the most demanding real-time communication services,” said Martin Bitzinger, CTO for Comdasys. “By integrating the M5T SRTP SAFE component, we are now offering our customer base even better means for implementing their branch connectivity solutions.”

The M5T SRTP SAFE component supports the Secure Real-Time Transport Protocol (SRTP) based on RFC 3711 to provide secure transport of packets. SRTP is suitable for protecting multimedia sessions that use any type of codec by providing secure transport of all packets. The M5T SRTP SAFE comes with AES-CM cipher encryption as well as SHA-1 algorithm for additional security and authentication purposes.
